Statement of RPV Chairman Pat Mullins on Thursday's House of Delegates vote on DNC Chairman Tim Kaine's income tax hike Proposal
"If there was ever a doubt that Chairman Tim Kaine and the rest of the national Democrat Party have lost touch with the concerns of voters, today's income tax vote should dispel it," said Mullins. "Kaine's last-minute attempt to balance his budget on the backs of hard working Virginians who are already hurting in this rough economy is so far into left field that not one member of his own caucus voted for it."
"Voters in Virginia, New Jersey and now Massachusetts have all sent a strong message that even the Democrats in the House of Delegates have heard loud and clear - raising taxes during the worst recession in a generation is a non starter," he said. "Even members of Chairman Kaine's own party said a vote to raise income taxes was the equivalent of 'walking the plank.'"
"Our Republican team in Richmond is united in ensuring that Barack Obama, his DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, the Democrats in the General Assembly, and Nancy Pelosi keep their hands out of our wallets and off our health insurance plans," he said.
