RPV Chairman Pat Mullins gave the following statement:
"I've been around politics for a long time now, and it takes quite a bit to leave me speechless. Yet President Obama's remarks during his campaign stop in Roanoke this weekend did just that.
"Just let that sink in for a minute. Barack Obama just said that business owners who have worked hard to create their own opportunities aren't responsible for their own success. No, it's some sort of vague collective success, owed to the government.
"Folks, If there was any doubt that Barack Obama knows nothing about how business and the economy work, it has certainly been removed.
"He's never had to worry about making enough sales to cover the expenses at the end of the month. He's never sat down at the desk, done that math, and realized that he's the one who won't be getting a paycheck. And he's certainly never sat down with his employees to hammer out what's the best option for health insurance.
"But then again, what should we expect from a President who used taxpayer money to reward contributors to his campaign? Solyndra, Bright Wind, Fisker, the list goes on and on. And if you measure success by how big of check you can get from Washington, D.C., then these businesses were very successful.
"There's a saying in my line of work: "You don't learn a darn thing the second time the horse kicks you." Virginians have been kicked good and hard by this President's policies, and they're not going to make the same mistake twice. That's why they're going to vote for Mitt Romney in November, and make him the next President of the United States."
